Financial Literacy Advocate

Personal Notes
As a young person, no one ever asked me who I wanted to be when I grew up, and financial education wasn’t something discussed in my home. By the time I left college, I was burdened with both student loan debt and credit card debt. It was striking to me how easy it was for credit card companies to hand out applications on campus without offering any guidance on how to manage credit or understand credit scores.
Thankfully, in my mid-20s, I joined a church community that taught me about money, budgeting, saving, investing, giving, and entrepreneurship. It was like a seed planted in my life that continues to bear fruit. Though I had some tough lessons and decisions along the way, these teachings set me on the right path. Today, I want to give that same gift to the next generation. My goal is to empower young people to feel confident in their financial decisions and to take action toward building a financial legacy. Let’s start the conversation that many of us never had growing up.
