NFEC IACET Accredited Provider

The National Financial Educators Council has always been driven to deliver financial wellness programming that exhibits the same high quality and rigor required of higher education institutions. Now the NFEC has proven its adherence to top standards and shown that it deserves the public trust by earning its IACET Accredited Provider status. This status represents the highest accreditation standards for program development across nine internationally recognized categories.

About the IACET Accreditation

As an IACET Accredited provider, the National Financial Educators Council offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.

The ANSI/IACET Standard measures all aspects of a CE/T provider’s program development across nine internationally recognized categories: Organization, Responsibility and Control, Learning Environment and Support Systems, Planning and Instructional Personnel, Needs Analysis, Learning Outcomes, Content and Instructional Requirements, Assessment of Learning Outcomes, Awarding the IACET CEU and Maintaining Learner Records, and Evaluation of Learning Events.

Recognized Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

The National Financial Educators Council is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. IACET is recognized internationally as a standard development organization and accrediting body that promotes quality of continuing education and training. Those who complete select NFEC coursework receive recognized CEUs that are accepted by diverse companies, regulatory boards, and organizations across all regions of the United States.

“The Continuing Education Unit or CEU was created and defined in 1970 after IACET and the U.S. Department of Education task force studied the measurement of non-credit continuing education activities. The continuing education unit (CEU) was designed to: provide a standard unit of measurement for continuing education and training, quantify continuing education and training (CE/T) activities, and accommodate for the diversity of providers, activities, and purposes in adult education.” https://www.iacet.org/standards/ansi-iacet-2018-1-standard-for-continuing-education-and-training/continuing-education-unit-ceu/about-the-ceu

NFEC History of Working Toward Accreditation

Earning IACET Accreditation status was a long-term vision that guided the development of all our education programming. For each course we developed or taught, the NFEC first started with the development of standards for both educators and learners. From that point forward, all material was developed around those standards.

Over a decade of updates and iterations later and based on feedback from thousands of instructors and students, the NFEC refined its materials to ensure that they would best help people effectively work toward greater financial wellness. The formal IACET Accreditation process was led by Trevor Stoll, the NFEC’s COO; it started in late 2020 and wrapped up in early 2022.

“The application process to demonstrate adherence to the ANSI/IACET was rigorous; but it was beneficial to build the processes and program implementation standards that will best help those who want to gain financial knowledge do so most effectively.” Trevor Stoll, NFEC COO.

The Mission Ahead

The NFEC mission has been amplified with the IACET Accreditation and we are now well-positioned to help people with their finances so they can live better lives. Together with our global team of financial wellness professionals, we will provide them with training, resources, and support that meet the highest standards so they can continue to help their community members work toward greater financial strength.

“Our accreditation with IACET is a demonstration of our commitment to high-quality financial education and high standards for all our programs. We are honored to join such a prestigious organization as we continue on our mission to help people make qualified financial decisions and confidently take effective financial action that best helps them meet their basic human needs while moving toward fulfilling their personal, family, and global community goals.” Vince Shorb, NFEC CEO.
