Victoria Jackson
Financial Literacy Advocate

Personal Notes
I’m often amazed by how many people say they never learned certain things about financial education. For example, I recently came across a post by a professional athlete who admitted that when he first joined the league, he didn’t even know what a mortgage was. It made me reflect on my own experience — even though my parents were homeowners, I didn’t fully understand mortgages when I was younger either. I frequently hear people say they wish they had learned about managing money and the pitfalls of credit cards early on, which is something I can relate to. It took me time to figure out these things, often through mistakes. This is why I’m passionate about providing financial education to young people, especially in inner cities, so they can build a strong foundation of knowledge. My goal is to help them understand that financial literacy is the key to achieving their dreams and creating generational wealth. I want to cultivate a mindset of financial growth, where individuals prioritize their financial well-being and long-term success.
Bio
Victoria Jackson is an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor.
Born and raised in Oakland, CA, Victoria Jackson is a wife, mother of two, and a graduate of UC Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics. She previously owned a small business and enjoyed a 20-year career in the communications industry. Alongside her professional accomplishments, she also dedicated time to volunteering with a local baseball organization.
The Jackson Roots Initiative was inspired by the symbol of Oakland—the oak tree. The oak represents strength, growth, and wisdom, while its acorns symbolize small nuggets of knowledge that, when nurtured, can grow into something powerful and meaningful.
The mission of Jackson Roots is to equip young people with a foundation in financial education, helping them begin their wealth-building journeys early. The organization seeks to spark conversations about how money, like trees, can grow when properly cultivated. While many are taught that “money doesn’t grow on trees,” Jackson Roots aims to change this mindset by demonstrating that, with the right knowledge, money can grow like trees when handled wisely.
Victoria is grateful to those who first introduced her to investing and to the mentors who encouraged her to invest throughout her career. As a lifelong learner, she recognizes the importance of regular financial conversations. Just as social media trends dominate everyday discussions, she believes conversations about building personal wealth should be equally prioritized.
She understands that people, being visual and emotional, often desire what they see without focusing on the fundamental steps needed for lasting financial growth. Victoria emphasizes that while the “rainy day” is inevitable, financial literacy is the key to being prepared when it comes.
