Sucheta Thakkar
Financial Literacy Advocate

Personal Notes
I am a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®) with a background in academia and active engagement in the financial markets. My work in financial education is grounded in both research and practical experience, with a focus on helping individuals build knowledge, confidence, and informed decision-making skills.
My interest in financial education began during my MPhil research on financial planning among women. The research findings highlighted a consistent pattern: women from diverse backgrounds were often making similar financial decisions, many of which did not align with their long-term financial goals. This reinforced an important insight—that financial behaviors are shaped early, and that access to clear, unbiased financial education is essential at every stage of life.
A later experience further shaped my approach. After relocating internationally, I observed my son participating in a residential creative arts program and saw how inclusive, creative learning environments can build confidence and encourage engagement. That experience reaffirmed my belief that effective education—financial education included—should be interactive, accessible, and supportive of diverse learning styles.
These combined experiences led to the creation of GET EDUWISE, a financial education initiative focused on women and children. Through structured, age‑appropriate, and engaging programs, my work emphasizes financial literacy, confidence-building, and practical application in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
I am committed to supporting NFEC’s mission by advancing financial education that empowers individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions and work toward long‑term financial well‑being.
