Personal Notes
Being able to teach financial literacy for me is like opening a gift every day. Teaching and empowering others to become better stewards of their finances is a life-long mission of mine. I’ve experienced a lot of the personal and financial hardships that many of my clients are dealing with daily. I teach financial literacy from a holistic approach because many of our money behaviors and outcomes are not just financial. My goal is to assist individuals and families in changing the financial trajectory of their lives now and for generations to come.
Bio
Sharita M. Humphrey is an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor, coach and speaker. Sharita has a passion for teaching people, especially the everyday middle-class citizen, the importance of financial literacy. After experiencing hitting financial rock bottom herself years ago, Sharita had to rebuild her life and her finances. Sharita realized that she could turn the knowledge that she gained to help those silently struggling both personally and financially. Sharita has previously worked in the finance, auditing, and accounting industry. Sharita previously worked as a tax examiner and auditor for the State of Texas for some time and saw the daily impact of middle-class business owners consistently struggling with not only their business finances but also their personal finances. Sharita watched so many small businesses unfortunately, have to close their doors because of their lack of financial knowledge, resources and tools needed to properly manage their finances. This ultimately had a negative impact on their personal lives as well.
It was so hard to watch at times and Sharita could no longer morally accept that she was not able to educate people on how to make positive financial changes that she knew were possible, so she left her government position. Sharita knew sharing financial knowledge to make people’s organizations and businesses succeed was more important. Sharita now works to educate people on their finances in various industries across the United States and speaks at organizations that provide opportunities to teach our youth about finances.
Sharita’s experience includes teaching and speaking at several organizations and events, including the Houston Housing Authority, Covenant House Texas, The Women’s Resource Center, Capital One’s Debt Boot Camp and Covenant Community Capital. Sharita’s work and has been published in several magazines including AllBusiness.com. Forbes, MSN and Beautifully Said Magazine. Sharita is a current brand ambassador for the national credit builder loan company, Self Lender and her Money Mindset Movement program is a part of this amazing partnership. Sharita is also a personal finance blogger and her work can be seen across many personal finance platforms.
Sharita works alongside her clients to help place their focus on faith, family, and finance by approaching money management in an innovative way. Sharita’s goal is focused primarily on finding ways to restructure, maintain, and grow your finances through real-world strategies and a supportive online community dedicated to financial success. When she is not working on finance, Sharita enjoys volunteering in the community and celebrating this wonderful gift called life with her family and friends. Sharita currently resides in Houston, Texas, and continues to work with clients across the country.
