Shanreca Crawford-Benjamin
Financial Services Professional & Financial Literacy Advocate

Personal Notes
Ever look back and think, “If only I knew then what I know now”? When it comes to money, most of us have been there. Despite how deeply finances impact our lives, it’s one of the few subjects we’re rarely taught. Why? Maybe because staying uninformed keeps us dependent on systems that profit from our mistakes. I learned this the hard way—through collections, repossessions, and tough lessons no one warned me about. But those struggles sparked a turning point: if I wanted a better future, I had to take charge of my financial education. Now, I use what I’ve learned to empower the next generation. By teaching youth about money early, I hope to help them avoid the pitfalls I faced—and instead build confident, informed, financially free lives. Because knowledge is power, and it’s time we passed that power on.
