Personal Notes

I help people navigate the paths no one teaches us how to walk: grief, caregiving, financial choices under pressure, and the complex life shifts that leave people unsure where to begin. I’ve had to make many of these decisions myself and have made mistakes along the way, so I understand how overwhelming they can feel. Drawing on my experience in financial education, mental health, and family decision-making, I provide practical tools and steady learning so individuals can prepare before a crisis forces their next step.

Bio

Amanda Luman is the founder of Illuminated Insights and an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor℠ (CFEI®). She provides practical financial literacy education for individuals and families navigating real-life decisions, especially during major transitions such as caregiving, grief, new parenthood, and changing financial responsibilities.

With more than a decade of experience in regulated banking and trust operations, Amanda has supported families working through estate logistics, documentation, and time-sensitive decisions. Her teaching focuses on helping people understand systems they are often expected to navigate without preparation including budgeting, resource planning, and communicating effectively with financial and service professionals.

Amanda’s programs are educational, approachable, and grounded in everyday reality. Rather than offering financial advice or investment recommendations, she teaches people how to organize information, ask effective questions, and participate confidently in important financial decisions.

Her perspective is also personal. After serving as caregiver and executor for a terminally ill parent, she experienced how quickly financial and administrative responsibilities arise during emotional periods. Earlier in life, while working full-time during college, she also learned how the absence of practical financial education can turn ordinary obligations into avoidable crises. These experiences now shape her teaching approach.

Through workshops, community programs, and group learning sessions, Amanda focuses on closing practical knowledge gaps so participants leave with clear next steps they can use immediately. Her goal is simple: when people understand their options and resources, they make steadier decisions and face difficult seasons with greater confidence and stability.
