My name is Dr. Valerie Y. Waller-Murphy. I have a background in Accounting and Global Finance with over 25 years of combined Accounting, Auditing, Teaching, and Finance experience. I’m currently an Adjunct Professor teaching Financial Analysis/Personal Finance at the Master’s Level at Central Michigan University and I’m an Accounting Consultant at a Major Banking Institution. I’m the Founder & CEO of Enriching Lives Consulting Services. Our goal is to reach as many people as we can to eliminate the epidemic of financial illiteracy through seminars and classes.

 

Bio

Valerie Y. Waller-Murphy, PhD, CFEI is a Business Financial Analyst, an Accounting Consultant, a Certified Budget Coach, an Adjunct Professor at Central Michigan University, and an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor. Always passionate about helping others, she became the Founder/CEO of Enriching Lives Consulting Services, LLC (ELCS). She has always loved budgeting, finding ways to save money, and sharing that knowledge with others. She has over 25 years of Accounting, Data Analysis, Auditing, Bookkeeping, Global Finance, Budgeting, Internal Controls & Compliance, Finance, and Financial Reporting experience.

She moved to Chesterfield from Chesapeake, Virginia and graduated with honors from the Sydney Lewis School of Business at Virginia Union University. She went on to earn her Masters of Science in Leadership, which helped her propel as a Sr. Corporate Accountant and an Accounts Payable Supervisor. She later earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting, which assisted her in her role as an IT Financial Accountant/Analyst at a major Depository Institution. Finally, she earned a PhD in Business Management where she also graduated with honors and was inducted in the Mu Delta Mu Honor Society. She is an MPA Advisory Board Member at Central Michigan University. She is the Vice President of Fairlawn Townhomes Association, a member of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), American Financial Education Alliance (AFEA), and the Virginia Council on Economic Education (VCEE).

She has always had a passion to help others and ELCS will help her achieve that. While the business will offer many programs such as mentor high school and college students, resuming writing tips, basic computer skills, as well as health & wellness, the main program is promoting financial literacy to all ages.
