Maryan Azeezy

Personal Notes

I believe in children! There is hope in their eyes and courage in their attitude, and they are super potential. I also believe in the power of education to transform lives. When I quit my corporate job to start my own business, I decided to invest my energy and time in a project that revolves around my firm beliefs in both children and education. I found the answer in financial education for children and young people. I even related to the core issue it seeks to address as personally I learnt personal finance skills through costly errors in a hard reactive stressful way. I realized I could help children and young people master these skills in a smart proactive joyful way and empower them to achieve financial freedom. Now I see this as an integral part of my life’s purpose, and I committed myself to it.

Bio

Maryan Azeezy is an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor. She is currently undertaking the NFEC Certified Financial Education Consultant Program, which provides its members with proven frameworks for designing and delivering financial literacy programs. It also connects members to a global network of expert consultants who exchange experience and ideas.

Maryan has 18 years of experience in the Financial Services industry with HSBC and Crédit Agricole banks. Her core expertise is in the optimization of sales, channels and customer service functions for personal credit products. The financial aspects of her previous roles include budget planning for projects, assessing investment options, and credit profiling for customers.

Throughout her career, Maryan coached and mentored many apprentices in sales, channels and customer service job roles, and contributed to their personal and professional development. To her, the benefits of the apprenticeship programs were not all one way. She gained a greater understanding of the financial and emotional challenges young people face when they are at a crossroads of profound changes in their lives. She related not only to these challenges but also to the apparent absence of comprehensive and impactful educational programs that help youth develop sound financial capabilities and empower them to make informed real-world personal finance decisions.

Maryan moved from her corporate career and started her own business in the field of financial education. She founded The Heroz Arena, a training and education social enterprise that aims at creating paths for children and young people towards financial wellness. The enterprise programs introduce students to healthy beliefs on money and teach them how to construct information and develop an effective thought process around critical areas of their financial lives. In other words, the focus is on teaching students HOW to think about money, not WHAT to think about it. The programs also apply the project-based learning method, which encourages students to take action on real financial cases from their own lives. Heroz Arena is based in Leeds city of England and aspires to reach young “heroz” across the whole UK and beyond.

Maryan holds MBA Masters degree from Durham University, BSc in Computer Science from KSU University and Diploma in Business Ethics and Social Responsibility from The University of Jordan.
