As a high school teacher, Dr. Luckeydoo provides seniors with practical guidance for life after graduation, whether they are headed to college, the military, trade school, or entering the workforce. He helps students navigate critical financial decisions that have powerful impact on their independence and long-term success. His lessons cover budgeting, distinguishing between wants and needs, managing expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and communication costs, and making thoughtful purchasing decisions. Dr. Luckeydoo emphasizes avoiding debt in most cases, but also teaches how to responsibly use debt to work in your favor when appropriate, as well as managing bank accounts and planning for unexpected expenses like household items and essential living supplies.
Through his classes and initiatives, he prepares students to evaluate housing options, determine transportation needs, and make informed choices about part-time work, personal spending, and financial priorities. Dr. Luckeydoo also teaches students strategies to minimize student loan debt, manage credit responsibly, and plan for sustainable financial habits as they transition to adulthood.
He is currently developing MoneySecret, a personal finance passion project that explores behavioral finance and psychology to encourage meaningful conversations about money and improve financial decision-making for all audiences.
