Dale Dicks
Financial Services Professional & Financial Literacy Advocate

Personal Notes
I was a career military officer in the U. S. Marine Corps for 20 years. While in the Marine Corps, I felt a need to start preparing myself for life after the Marine Corps and concluded I wanted to be an entrepreneur. And, I had always been extremely interested in finance and how money works, so I began to hone-in on opportunities to one day turn this passion into my livelihood. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps in July 1999, I immediately pursued and got my life and health insurance licenses, as well as looked to start a new career (not necessarily in sales) with a top company. I landed a management position with Fannie Mae and found myself training our Lender and Realtor partners on marketing home ownership to the emerging markets. Also, during this quest, I acquired a passion for stamping-out financial illiteracy. I retired from Fannie Mae in Dec 2007, and the experience prompted me to add mortgage and real estate sales to my portfolio, and I committed to having my own business, focused on teaching people how to achieve FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE. Later, I discovered NFEC, and learned it was perfectly aligned with my pursuits, and an excellent vehicle for helping the masses make smart choices regarding their money.

Today, he specializes in providing a “total wealth solution”. A “Train-the-Trainer”, he excels in training and as an inspirational and motivational LEADER. Since retiring from Fannie Mae in December 2007, he has focused on positioning himself to attract and build a dynamic network of leaders and a formidable business capability. He is a Trusted Wealth Advisor—background in mortgage origination, life insurance and real estate sales and investing—specializing in advanced strategies for aggressive debt pay-off, life-long retirement income, and legacy building. Mr. Dicks is also involved in community activities and has a high degree of community consciousness; as a volunteer college funding consultant, he is passionate about helping families acquire funding for college, based on merit, not need. And, to facilitate his decade-long ambition to “stamp-out financial illiteracy” on a grand scale, he has partnered with National Financial Education Council, becoming a Certified Financial Education Instructor.
During his 9-year tenure at Fannie Mae, Mr. Dicks distinguished himself as a Senior Project Manager and “Super Trainer” in Fannie Mae’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. He had oversight responsibilities for development and implementation of Diversity and Inclusion training for all employees, as well as externally with Fannie Mae partners, as lead trainer and train-the-trainer. These activities directly supported Fannie Mae’s corporate goal of increasing workforce diversity and equitable opportunity for all. His efforts contributed directly to Fannie Mae’s mission of making the American dream of homeownership a reality for all Americans—working closely with Realtors, Lenders, and Community-based organizations, addressing disparities in financial literacy and home ownership, and pursuing ways to “close the gap” and increase profitability. Mr. Dicks personally trained over 7,000 Fannie Mae employees and senior executives, and over 3,000 external customers.
Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Dicks was a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years and served as a career Aviation Maintenance and Logistics Manager, as well as in a myriad of other capacities. Highlights included: while stationed at Headquarters Marine Corps, responsible for implementation and execution of the congressionally-mandated, Marine Corps’ “Women’s Campaign Plan” with the objective of removing the “glass ceiling” for women; and, while assigned as Assistant Program Manager, Logistics at Naval Air Systems Command, responsible for total Integrated Logistical Support for 150 UH-1N and 200 AH-1W combat helicopters, strategically located around the globe, with just under 200 support personnel to carry-out this mission.
Mr. Dicks received an M.S. degree in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School and a B. S. degree in Business Administration from The Citadel.
