Bola Sokunbi Named Recipient of 2021 Financial Education Instructor of the Year Award

The National Financial Educators Council is delighted to announce the 2021 recipient of the Financial Education Instructor of the Year (FEIY) Award: Bola Sokunbi. Bola is founder of Clever Girl Finance, where women can become empowered through financial education by joining a safe, nonjudgmental online community.

The FEIY Award recognizes one individual each year who has made outstanding contributions to the financial literacy movement. The NFEC established the award due to the contention that educators are the single most powerful influence on people’s financial wellness. Bola Sokunbi was chosen as this year’s recipient because of her strong match with the three primary award criteria: education, awareness, and sustainability.

Clever Girl Finance is a financial education platform for women from all backgrounds, education and income levels. Through this platform, Bola and her team offer a wide range of complimentary educational resources – courses, mentoring, books, articles, podcasts, and a support community. The goal is to raise women’s financial health using fun, engaging, and approachable methods.

Bola’s outreach efforts have a broad reach. She produces a podcast that has been played 2.7 million times, her Instagram page has 335,000 views, and her courses have earned more than 160,000 enrollees in the last year. She raises awareness by sharing high-impact education, nurturing and supporting her online community.

Since 2020, all of the over 30 courses and supportive resources on Clever Girl Finance have been offered entirely complimentary. Women looking for compassionate personal finance education without judgment or shaming can find the knowledge they need here. Bola seeks to match women with the resources they need, without the limitation of a hefty enrollment fee.
