Bio
Dr. Agnes Mutiso (PhD) is a financial education instructor, an entrepreneur, a youth mentor and a financial literacy advocate. She holds a PhD in Business Administration with a bias in finance and Accounting. She is an affiliate of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor.
She has more than ten years’ experience teaching Finance and Accounting at the university level, where she has interacted with the young adults from very poor backgrounds, which resonates with her own personal experience of growing up in a society where poverty, hunger, and lack were the norm rather than the exception. As young girl from a remote village in Kenya, Dr. Agnes walked bare footed to school in pursuit of what could liberate her from poverty without a mentor. This background motivates her to face the future with courage and resilience. Rising from this background to become an accomplished university lecturer and an entrepreneur has taught her valuable personal financial lessons that she is committed to pass on to younger generation. With an education system that does not teach how to upscale from poverty, plus the increasing unemployment rates, she was motivated to form Wezesha Africa, a non-profit organization whose major objective is to equip and empower the younger generation to rise above their fears and doubt to improve their lives through financial education, entrepreneurship, and character development training. She is on a mission to equip and empower the younger generation in Africa with practical financial skills that will enhance their financial capabilities to live their dream lives. She joins the global movement to tackle the financial illiteracy epidemic and improve the financial wellness of African youth.
