Financial Management Videos Combat Financial Illiteracy
Financial illiteracy has reached epidemic levels in the U.S., with the potential for dire consequences. But just as proactive health screenings help to cure or prevent disease, positive financial education coursework builds financial literacy and helps avoid these negative results. Now there is a complete set of financial management videos that may turn the tide toward teaching our youth the practical money lessons they need to succeed.
Nowadays young people face an onslaught of advertising and media messages directing them to “spend, spend, spend.” Practical education in financial literacy is sorely needed to combat these urges to live outside our means. Yet until recently, financial education packages fell far behind the times by relying on boring lectures and written delivery methods. The National Financial Educators Council has stepped up to the plate by creating curriculum and training materials including personal finance videos, multimedia, interactive guides, and games to give such education a fresh look.
All the NFEC curricula are reviewed and approved by its Curriculum Advisory Board, a team of recognized financial and educational experts from around the country. The resulting packages—which include money management videos, student and instructor guides, certified instructor training, and more—are entertaining and engaging, and also comply with important educational benchmarks.
The independent, socially accountable NFEC is widely recognized for its ability to connect with people and inspire them to take positive action. Their Certified Financial Education Instructor training program, for example, prepares finance speakers who have the knowledge and credibility to make a difference in the lives of the people they reach. All graduates of the CFEI training become automatic members of the Personal Finance Speakers Association, a bureau of financial literacy speakers who can be relied upon to present a memorable class or keynote address to gatherings of any size.
