Possibilities for Obtaining Financial Education Certification

The NFEC has created a viable set of standards defining top-qualifications of certified financial educators, which they share with the financial education industry. The qualifications laid out in this framework for teaching and learner outcomes offer public assurance that those who receive financial education certification through the NFEC are held to the highest standards of expertise and practice.

Here’s an illustration of how the NFEC’s financial education certification helped someone turn her dream of helping others reach their personal finance goals into reality.

One of our volunteers was deeply interested in teaching adults how to manage their money, but didn’t have a clue where to start. In doing some due diligence research, she ran across the NFEC’s certificate in financial education. She learned that this certificate would give her the credentials to become a credible personal finance speaker, while building her confidence as an instructor at the same time.

After graduating from the Certified Financial Educator Training program, she continued as a volunteer but also began branching out on her own. After doing a few events by herself, she decided to create a brand and presence for her program. The NFEC assisted by branding her live presentation materials to feature her brand name, logo, and color scheme.

As she continued expanding her advocacy efforts, she participated in a variety of initiatives available to all CFEI graduates including annual Financial Educators Day celebrations, Cash for Candy at Halloween, and FLEC (Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Career) promotions. She began hosting a blog which was featured on the NFEC’s website to highlight her efforts.
