State Financial Literacy Chapters: Midwest Conference
In a partnership expansion between the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) and The Basketball League (TBL), financial literacy is being promoted for the benefit of TBL professional sports league communities across the country.
The NFEC is working in tandem with TBL along with its players and team organizations to spread greater financial health and well-being at the community level all across the U.S. The Midwest Conference of TBL joins in to support this widespread economic empowerment effort.
Community Benefits
Midwestern TBL communities benefit from this partnership by receiving donations of high-quality financial literacy resources created by the NFEC. This comprehensive package of donated resources goes to local organizations – such as nonprofits and schools – that have a goal to present scalable financial education programs in their communities.
In addition, TBL teams and players are getting involved in financial literacy promotions in a variety of ways. Team activities include a Financial Literacy Quiz promotion played at TBL games, financial educator recognition at halftime on Financial Educators Day, and a Mother’s Day promotion that encourages kids to do chores for Mom on Mother’s Day in exchange for free game tickets.
TBL players get on board by completing educational activities that boost their own personal finance knowledge. They also advocate for financial literacy in their communities; and some players have studied to earn their Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®) certificate from the NFEC.
Local TBL Teams in the Midwest Conference
The TBL Midwest Conference gives locals an opportunity to cheer on their professional basketball team in a family-friendly environment. At the same time, families can take advantage of complimentary financial education resources that help them build greater financial wellness.
