State Financial Literacy Chapters: Central Conference
A collaboration between the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) and The Basketball League (TBL) now extends its efforts into all the communities and states that host TBL teams. This partnership empowers promotion of financial literacy in TBL professional sports league communities around the nation.
The Basketball League (TBL), TBL players and teams, and the NFEC work in concert to spread financial literacy widely throughout the TBL professional sports communities scattered all across the United States.
Community Benefits
The TBL/NFEC partnership offers multiple benefits to communities. First, the NFEC provides top-grade financial literacy resources that the TBL donates to community groups, schools, and nonprofits that have an interest in building and scaling successful financial education programs.
Second, TBL players and teams extend the reach and scope of financial literacy programming in the community in several ways. The players participate by educating themselves about personal finances, advocating for financial literacy, and taking leadership roles as Certified Financial Education Instructors (CFEI®) by completing the NFEC training.
Teams take part by supporting promotions at TBL games and in the host communities. One example of a promotion is the Mother’s Day Chores campaign – where kids do chores for their mothers as a gift on Mother’s Day and are rewarded with free tickets to a TBL game. This activity not only encourages a strong work ethic among kids, but also supports families toward their financial goals.
