Financial Literacy Organizations Working to Turn Trends Around

The current financial forecasts for American citizens sound like the knell of doom. Statistics reported daily say that more than 50% of those at pre-retirement age underestimate their life expectancy. Further, as many as 40% of Americans are relying on the lottery, getting married, or inheritance to fund their retirements. This represents a serious problem, since Social Security and Medicare are likely to be bankrupt by the time today’s youth reach retirement age. But now there’s hope: financial literacy organizations like the National Financial Educators Council have spearheaded a movement to make a difference.
The NFEC is a social enterprise organization with an independent, open source model. This national financial literacy foundation has positioned itself as the number one provider of financial education resources, training, and workshop packages in the U.S. and around the world. And to people or nonprofit groups that have a passion for helping others, the NFEC will make these materials available complimentary.
Ten years ago the U.S. government created a financial literacy education commission to set the agenda for teaching Americans important money skills. The NFEC answered the call. Over the past decade, they have been working with a team of financial and educational experts to develop their curricula, all of which are based on best practices for education and practical financial information. The results have the potential to turn around the trends toward money struggles and stress. Education is the solution, and the NFEC is filling that need.
Raising financial literacy simply means giving people the money skills and knowledge to confidently take effective action toward fulfilling their goals—whether those goals be personal, family, or community-oriented. Independent companies like the NFEC offer such financial literacy education at no cost, to anyone with a demonstrated commitment to helping people achieve financial freedom and security.
The NFEC maximizes the reach and frequency of financial literacy initiatives by taking a collaborative approach to financial education. Combining the strengths of financial education partners provides maximum exposure, increasing the reach and frequency of the message. The NFEC would like to thank its financial education partners, supporters, media, clients, and concerned citizens for the dedication to empower people with practical money management knowledge. We welcome new partners and seek to work with all those who are passionate about sharing financial literacy with their communities. We are always open to collaborating on mutually-beneficial financial education initiatives.
Financial literacy organizations worldwide are banding together to provide people personal finance knowledge. The NFEC is committed to providing these financial literacy organizations the resources and tools necessary to conduct effective outreach, training and financial education programs. Many financial literacy organizations and other collaborative partners approached the National Financial Educators Council recently to learn more about the Financial EduNation Campaign which provides turnkey financial education solutions and promotions. The goal of this campaign was to make it as easy as possible for other financial education organizations to get a comprehensive money management program up and running.
With the abundance of personal finance material now available there is no need for financial literacy organizations to reinvent the wheel. By taking a collaborative approach many of these groups are able to save time, money, leverage resources and their outreach efforts as opposed to designing a program from scratch. The NFEC supports other financial literacy organizations by providing them the tools they need to raise funds and feature potential sponsors on their custom branded Financial EduNation resource Center. This allows them to annualize donations, increase awareness about their organization and potentially gain volunteer support.
To gather, through collaborative efforts, the financial literacy effort can continue to gain momentum and help people around the globe. The NFEC commends other financial literacy organizations that are making a true difference in the lives of those they touch. For each person empowered with financial education knowledge it not only benefits them personally but there friends, family and community as a whole.
The NFEC would also like to give special thanks to our financial education sponsors, volunteers, media and concerned citizens that are helping us reach more people with a personal finance education.
