Personal Statement
I’ve always had a passion for helping others, especially in their efforts to build financial confidence, establish financial security, and achieve financial success; a success that’s unique to each person’s vision. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with individuals from all walks of life and understand the unique challenges faced by underrepresented communities due to the lack of appropriate resources. As a financial planner and educator, I’ve seen the power of financial literacy and the impact it can have on lives, especially in my life.
The living from “check to check” phase was real and seemed never-ending to me. It was like re-living “Groundhog Day” over and over for years….I never imagined getting out of this cycle because I thought it was impossible. I was operating in a scarcity mindset and I needed help! I began to pray over my thoughts, situation, and future and my prayers began to manifest. I was introduced to the world of insurance (e.g., Life and Health) and Annuities and worked to become a licensed professional and educator. In the process, I learned about financial literacy and how a vast majority of the world was quite the opposite: financially illiterate. Unfortunately, I was among the majority! Change had to be made. Changes to my mindset, financial behaviors, and seeking advice. These changes laid the foundation for me becoming a Financial Planner. Aside from educating people about the various insurances and the impact they will have, people needed to know the how and why of money and how to make it work for their families. This needed to be a holistic approach!
Having this great opportunity to lead financial education campaigns here in Virginia will give me the opportunity to touch many lives and encourage them to change their mindsets and manifest their dreams of financial freedom, financial stability, and improving their financial health.
