Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Obioha Okereke and I am a Salesforce QA Consultant at Slalom in Atlanta, Georgia. At Slalom, I work closely with developers and our clients to design and execute manual software testing, ensuring that end users are provided with solutions that meet their needs and make their lives easier. I thoroughly enjoy the attention to detail and accountability required by my role and have learned the importance of strong communication, planning, and diversity of thought in effort to build and properly test amazing client solutions.
More about me: I am born and raised in Washington State and recently moved to Georgia to purchase my first real estate property. I first started investing in the stock market at age 18 and to this day, it is the single most important financial decision I have ever made. Through social media and various partnerships, I share my story and provide tips and resources to individuals around the country. In my spare time, you can find me exploring new restaurants in Atlanta, playing video games, or trying out new recipes.
Ever since middle school, I observed the cost of money mismanagement and how lack of delayed gratification has very large downstream impacts. I witnessed this first with my siblings, then friends. I sought out ways to help shift how we as young people think about money, because if you can adopt healthy money habits at a young age, your future self will ALWAYS be thankful.
I am not without my own financial mistakes and I share these openly with students and adults alike in an effort to bring more transparency into financial education and paint a very clear picture about the economic cost of seemingly small (and often unhealthy) financial decisions. By being a part of the GFEC community, I’ll be better positioned to help students and adults across Georgia build strong, long-lasting financial habits. Through wide-scale community-based efforts, I know that with the backing of the NFEC we’ll be able to change the lives and financial well-being of countless individuals.
