Community Champion: Marlon Green
Marlon Green’s strong commitment to community empowerment through financial wellness has been demonstrated throughout his career and life experience. As a student athlete, Marlon learned at a very young age the value of teamwork, communication skills, strong partnerships, leadership, discipline, and resilience. Today, as founder and CEO of Prosperous Athletes, Marlon puts his expertise into action by equipping high school and collegiate athletes with financial wellness tools designed to sustain them beyond the athletic arena.
Marlon has a passion for working with athletes by educating them on all facets of personal finance by providing strategies for saving, investing, improving credit scores, and eliminating debt. This passion aligns him closely with the mission and purpose of the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC), the parent organization of the Texas Financial Educators Council. Having overcome his own financial pitfalls earlier in life, Green now seeks to add value to the lives of his community members by helping bridge gaps in financial knowledge and skill. Marlon’s dedication to advocating for financial health across Texas and beyond underscore his status as a true community champion.
Personal Statement
Due to a lack of knowledge and financial awareness, I experienced my own financial trials and tribulations at a young age. It was in my Bachelors program, as an Accounting major, where I first began to gain exposure to money and finances. Once I began to understand the impact of prudent financial management, I was inspired to help others and share what I had learned.
As a former athlete and now a financial educator, my mission is to provide a comprehensive financial literacy program that will empower current and former athletes to take control of their financial destiny. I founded Prosperous Athletes with the goal of raising awareness for personal finance in my community and becoming an advocate for financial wellness. Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have overcome my own financial pitfalls through continuous learning and awareness. My purpose is to add value to lives of others by helping to bridge the financial literacy gap in our communities. I believe that financial wellness is a cornerstone of personal and societal well-being.
