Personal Statement
I always had a strong passion for finance starting at a young age. Working at The Bonadio Group gave me the opportunity to act in a supporting role to help individuals achieve their financial goals and help give them peace of mind.
My passion started as early as elementary school where I learned the importance of saving money and wanted my mom to take me to the bank to open my first savings account. The banker took notice of my early interest in finance and told me to come back 10 years later to work there – quite funny hearing that as a third grader. Since then, I have always been conscious of how I spent my money and also began taking accounting classes for college credit in high school to get an early start on my accounting education.
It was during my time at college and onward where I truly learned about the important concepts of compound interest and passive low-cost index funds through finance influencer YouTube channels. This was the true start of my passion for financial education and led me to learn many concepts from research on my own time and watching other YouTubers share their knowledge. I quickly became cemented among my friends and family as a go-to person whenever they had questions related to anything finance. Helping others gave me a warm feeling and I loved contributing positively in others’ lives through knowledge I found interesting.
Fast forward to today, I continue to answer any finance and tax-related questions my friends may have and have also realized there were many important financial concepts that my peers simply did not know about, nor did their parents. It’s nice to get people on track as early as possible, as the decisions you make now will compound greatly years into the future. This was a catalyst for my strong belief in required financial education in the school system.
Starting my career at The Bonadio Group was my first step in furthering my passion when I switched to the private wealth industry after three years of audit experience and obtaining my Certified Public Accountant license. My position on the New York Financial Educators Council’s Advisory Board allows me to share my passion with a much wider reach and gives me the chance to reach people as early as possible in their lives for the greatest impact on their future. I am honored to be playing a part in promoting financial wellness in my community and truly making a difference.
