Personal Statement
Dr. Shameka Jones’s passion for financial wellness and educational equity is deeply rooted in her personal and professional journey. A physician by training and an educator by purpose, Dr. Jones has always believed that true wellness reaches far beyond the physical. It includes mental clarity, academic preparation, and financial confidence.
Her path began in her early years of education, where she developed a strong love for science and learning. Growing up, she saw firsthand how access to high-quality education and supportive mentors could change the trajectory of a young person’s life. That realization inspired her to pursue medicine, a field that allowed her to serve people holistically while also emphasizing discipline, problem-solving, and compassion.
Together with her husband, Dr. Vincent Jones, she co-founded VeraRosa Higher Learning Scholarship and STEM NG², two Georgia-based organizations dedicated to helping youth build academic excellence and self-confidence. Initially focused on strengthening students’ skills in math, reading, and STEM, these programs soon revealed a larger need: helping families understand how financial literacy underpins educational opportunity.
Drs. Vincent and Shameka Jones began their financial wellness journey within their own household. By prioritizing financial education, they learned to align their goals, build generational security, and model smart money habits for their children and community.
“Financial education is not just about dollars and cents,” Dr. Jones explains. “It’s about empowerment, discipline, and the belief that every person, regardless of background, deserves the knowledge to build a strong financial foundation.”
