Her leadership is strengthened by her natural charisma, genuine empathy, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Much like the community‑centered approach found in financial empowerment education, she brings clarity, encouragement, and actionable insight to those she serves – proving that collective effort can spark meaningful, lasting change.
Personal Statement
I have always believed that financial knowledge is one of the most powerful gifts one person can give another. Long before I had a title, a contract, or a platform, I had a front-row seat to what happens when hardworking people are left to figure out money alone. Growing up watching the people I loved work themselves to exhaustion and still come up short taught me something that no classroom ever could. The problem was never effort. It was access. And that realization became the foundation of everything I have built since.
I will never forget a mother who sat across from me during tax season. She had worked two jobs the entire year, sacrificed weekends, missed school events, and done everything she believed she was supposed to do. When I handed her her refund, her eyes filled with tears, not from joy, but from the weight of knowing it still was not enough. The apartment. The car note. The past-due bills stacked on the kitchen counter she had tried to hide before I arrived. The room was quiet except for the hum of the space heater she had running in the corner because the heat had been cut off. She smelled like the restaurant she had just come from, still in her uniform, apologizing for not having time to change. She did not need a bigger refund. She needed someone to sit with her, explain how money actually works, and show her how to make it grow instead of just survive on it. I held it together in that room. But I cried in my car. Not from sadness. From resolve. That moment became the turning point. I stopped asking how I could help people file better returns and started asking how I could help them build better lives.
That resolve led me to build CORE DMV, to pursue a government contract that now positions us to serve 111 Community Schools, to develop a curriculum that meets students inside their schools and sends them home with not just knowledge but a $200 seed savings stipend in a tax-advantaged growth account. It led me to build a national agent network so that the mission does not stop at the DMV. It led me to every advisory board, every policy table, every pitch stage, and every community brunch where someone finally hears the things about money that they deserved to hear years ago.
Being part of the NFEC financial wellness campaign in the DMV region is the fullest expression of everything that quiet, heavy moment in that living room lit inside of me. This campaign gives me the platform to reach people before the crisis arrives, before the sleepless nights, before the stack of bills on the counter. It is not just helping me achieve my goals. It is helping me fulfill my calling. And for every person who finally gets access to what they always deserved, it is giving them a fighting chance at the financial freedom that was always meant for them too.
