The virtual classroom includes both the Methods of Teaching and Content Knowledge components of the course. The comprehensive Learning Management System includes full production videos, interactive learning features and activities that improve your capabilities as a financial education instructor.

Course Workbook

The course workbook is aligned with the eLearning Platform. The workbook provides additional instruction and activities that expand the knowledge you gain from the online training and helps you integrate them into your own teaching style to create personalized presentations. Digital version included with course.

Framework for Teaching Personal Finance

The Framework identifies the responsibilities of financial educators proven by empirical studies and theoretical research to produce the highest gains in participant test scores, and provides clear benchmarks to enhance educators’ professional development. Digital version included with course.

Testing

Upon completion of the Certification, you must pass the final exam with a score of 75% or higher. The final exam is delivered online. If you do not pass the first time, you may take the exam again.

Optional Ongoing Training

The NFEC hosts monthly group training sessions that keep instructors up-to-date with industry best practices. You can participate in the live training events or listen to the recordings.

Certified Financial Education Instructor Title

Graduates may use the CFEI acronym and term Certified Financial Education Instructor after successfully passing the final exam and remain in good standing with the NFEC by following the CFEI code of conduct.

Certification Logo

Graduates in good standing may feature Digital Badges, such as the Certified Financial Education Instructor logo, on marketing materials and online to boost credibility as financial educators.

Certification Award

To recognize your accomplishments, a personalized Certification Award will be mailed* to you after you pass the test.

*US residents only; those outside the US will receive the award digitally.

Continuing Education Credit Letter

For those satisfying Professional Development Hours, the NFEC provides a letter documenting satisfaction of your Continuing Education Units.

All graduates who seek speaking opportunities are accepted as members of the NFEC’s Personal Finance Speakers Association.

Graduates interested in gaining added exposure will receive a complimentary customized webpage that features your speaker’s profile & bio.

Advocacy Center

Gain access to the complete Advocacy Center which includes the tools, tips, and resources to help you promote financial wellness in your community and make a positive impact in your fellow citizens’ lives.

Promotional Resources

Graduates receive a promotional package they can use to highlight their accomplishment and promote financial literacy. The package includes: social media posts, emails, press releases, and a brochure that helps you promote your services. You also are eligible to participate in NFEC promotional campaigns such as Financial Educators Day.

Funding Tools

We assist graduates to build sustainable financial education programs by providing resources that can help them fund their initiatives, including sponsorship forms, grant materials, client solicitation letters, and more.

Funding Training

Nonprofits, financial professionals, entrepreneurs, schools, and all others – each have unique models to fund their programs – you may participate in monthly live or recorded calls to learn about the options.

Planning & Consultation

At the NFEC we have a vested interest in the success of our graduates. You receive a 30-minute call with an expert to help you plan out your financial literacy initiative – including funding, business aspects, programming options, etc.
