Bio
I am Cameron J. Evans, a Wake Forest University Alum, former municipal government employee, and an NFEC Certified Financial Education Instructor. I am originally from Gifford, South Carolina, a small town in the Lowcountry region of the state with a population of under 400 citizens. I attended Hampton County District 2 grade schools and attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC from 2006 to 2010. During my tenure there I was afforded the opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain during the fall semester of 2008. I traveled almost all of Europe during that time as well as Northern Africa and Istanbul, Turkey. In 2010, I graduated with a bachelor of arts in Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurship. After graduating I was employed by the town where I attended grade school, Estill, SC. During my time there, I gave back to my community by speaking at school events and working with individuals one-on-one to promote development in personal finance and entrepreneurship. I even worked to begin several entrepreneurial ventures of my own; all but one were unsuccessful, however, they were amazing learning opportunities. I am currently a full-time entrepreneur, a loving family man, and an advocate of financial literacy. After leaving my nine-to-five job in municipal government as a finance/HR officer, I took the “leap of faith” realizing that my true purpose was to educate others on the benefits of being an expert at managing their own finances. The reason I am so passionate about personal finance is because I saw the effects of not being financially savvy first hand. I did not have a father growing up but I was raised to be a great man by my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. They were not afforded the luxury of having parents that were financially literate or a person to turn to for advice. All they knew was that they needed to provide for their families and that’s what they did with no regard to the consequences of their financial decisions. It pained me to see them experience difficulty and I always wanted to help but I couldn’t. As a result of careful meditation and self-introspection, I realized that this perspective had always played a part in my life. At that point, I knew exactly what I wanted to do; I had found my niche. This inspired me to move forward in reaching the depths of my purpose and to pursue my goal of becoming a personal finance guru and prominent social entrepreneur.
