Advisory Board Member Lottia Fredo
Texas Financial Educators Council
Advisory Board Member Lottia Fredo was named to a seat on the Texas Financial Educators Council (TFEC) board as a result of her more than 20 years of experience in higher education at public, private, and proprietary colleges and her proven commitment to the financial wellness movement. Previously Fredo was Director of the Financial Literacy Program at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas; she is currently Financial Wellness Chair for the Coalition of Higher Education Assistance Organizations (COHEAO). In 2017 she founded her current nonprofit organization – Relay: Heroes Today, Leaders Tomorrow – based in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Metropolitan area. This organization states its mission as enhancing opportunities for individuals and families to achieve financial responsibility and educational success. They accomplish that goal by working to empower students in financial literacy, college readiness, and scholarships.
In addition to her work in higher education and financial literacy, Lottia also is an ordained pastor, ministering particularly to children and youth. She exhibits an empathy and enthusiasm for empowering upcoming generations throughout the classroom, church, and community. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and volunteering. Fredo’s background and reputation highlight her strong alignment with the goals and mission of the National Financial Educators Council, the TFEC’s parent body. The Texas Council anticipates a productive long-term relationship with Lottia Fredo as we work together to advance the financial wellness cause.

Innovator and Advocate for Educational and Financial Success: Lottia Fredo
For Lottia Fredo, dedicating her career to helping students and families achieve educational and financial success comes naturally from her own experience as a first-generation college student. In 2017, she founded Relay: Heroes Today, Leaders Tomorrow, a nonprofit based in the DFW Metroplex, to expand outreach and impact.
