About Monedu

Monedu has been awarded the 2018 International Financial Education Program of the Year for their innovative online training platform and awareness efforts. The full platform is tailored specifically to the needs of Mexicans, and is designed to deliver a practical financial education that makes a measurable impact on the capacities and behaviors of the people who take the course.

Approximately 61 out of every 100 Mexicans have never received financial education, according to CONDUSEF. Monedu is committed to addressing the financial illiteracy problem by presenting a platform with over 80 learning tools, study cases, simulations, and calculators in addition to 32 videos that have proven to simplify complex personal finance concepts. These resources give participants the knowledge and next steps they need to take to bring their finances into order.

Monedu launched the platform with a training for the employees of Facebook and Instagram in their offices in Mexico (shown at the top of the page). After over two years of work in collaboration with a team of experts in education, psychology, and finance, they developed a personal finance curriculum created especially to be taught in Mexico. All the educational material was created by Certified Financial Education Instructors (CFEI) and exhaustively tested.

“Distinguished financial education programs do not merely dispense knowledge; they mold and modify participants’ behavior to guide them toward financial wellness. It is our privilege to recognize Monedu with the International Program of the Year award for their distinguished online personal financial education program,” states Vince Shorb, the NFEC’s CEO.

Thankful for the international recognition, Monedu anchors its mission in bettering the lives of Mexicans. For each license to the course sold, Monedu will donate an additional license to persons in need. The organization is looking to shift the paradigm of schools, businesses, and organizations in Mexico by launching the first course.

As Gerardo Porteny, co-founder of Monedu stated, “Financial education is something that all Mexicans need, regardless of their occupation, gender or social-economic position. It is our vision to live in a Mexico where each and every one has the knowledge and the tools they need to take the right financial decisions, and we won’t rest until we make that a reality.” People interested in taking the course and high schools, universities, businesses and organizations interested in presenting the materials can go to www.monedu.mx to register and receive counseling from Gerardo and his team.
