Begin the Process to Transfer Your Website

Are you interested in taking control of your NFEC-created website and managing it on your own terms? If you’re a current client seeking to transfer your website to another host, we understand your desire for independence and flexibility. Our team is here to provide you with your website files so you can move to a new host, ensuring a smooth transition and empowering you to take charge of your online journey.

Staff Required

As you embark on the journey of transferring your website to a new host, it’s important to note that you will be responsible for the setup process with the new hosting provider. The hosting provider is a company that hosts your website on their servers so your site can be accessed via the Internet. This includes tasks such as configuring Domain Name Server (DNS) settings and installing the provided website files and databases.

Your host, IT staff, or a third-party contractor you hire will need to be able to:

  • Install the directory and database files we provide.
  • Produce and apply MX records and any associated TXT records for outbound emails from your new host.
  • Produce and apply any applicable DNS records to direct traffic to your new host.
  • Test and troubleshoot any functionality issues produced by the hosting environment change.
  • Purchase and connect any third-party licensing required to maintain software updates.
  • Maintain the CMS, theme, and plugins for the duration in which the website is online.

Below is an example statement to send to your IT staff or host to verify that they can handle all the requirements listed above:

Process of Transfer

Understanding the Change of Hands

The work your technical staff performs on your new host is completely separate from access, authorization, and scope for the NFEC staff. Essentially, the NFEC has no control over what happens to the new site your technical staff deploys on your new host, as we can’t access the new site.

Once the NFEC provides you with the GZip file, we will maintain your existing site as-is until your technical staff redirects traffic to the new host or until your product license associated with the site lapses – whichever comes first.

So there are two versions of your site: The version we host and the version on your new host. Once the Domain Name Server (DNS) is changed, traffic will be redirected to your new host instead of to the NFEC.

What We Provide

  • GZip file of the website directories and database.
  • A WordPress administrator (user) account.
  • If the domain is with the NFEC’s registrar and account, we will enter any DNS records provided by your technical team.
  • Continued hosting of your site until your technical staff redirects traffic to the new host or until your product license associated with the site lapses – whichever comes first.

What We Do Not Provide

  • Support for your technical staff during the migration.
  • Software maintenance for your extracted site.
  • Ongoing licenses for software used on the extracted site (such as theme or plugins).
  • NFEC cPanel access.

Begin the Transfer Process

Click below to purchase and begin the website host transfer process. Once you have completed the purchase, we will extract your site and email you the GZip file and WordPress administrator credentials within 10 business days. Your NFEC-hosted site will remain live until your technical staff redirects traffic to the new host or until your product license associated with the site lapses – whichever comes first. Completing this checkout process does not stop access to your site, which will remain accessible until your transition to the new host is complete.
