State Financial Literacy Chapters: East Conference

Teams, players, and TBL as a whole donate financial literacy resources – which the NFEC provides and that meet top standards – to support schools, community groups, and nonprofit organizations around the U.S. Local organizations benefit from this comprehensive package of resources, which are distributed to groups that have an interest in promoting sustainable, scalable financial education programs.

Teams and players participate to encourage greater financial wellness in their local areas, too. TBL teams offer free financial literacy resources to community residents. They also offer competitions like the Financial Literacy Test at games – in this competition, a game attendee is selected to answer age-appropriate questions from the NFEC’s financial literacy quiz. For each question participants get correct, they get a chance to shoot a basket to win prizes.

The players participate by getting education about personal finances; getting active as advocates for financial wellness; and highlighting their community leadership by earning credentials as Certified Financial Education Instructors (CFEI®) through the NFEC.

In a family-friendly environment, attendees at TBL games get a chance to cheer for their local professional basketball teams. As an added bonus, they also get access to financial education resources that can help individuals and families alike to improve their financial well-being.
