Funding America, LLC was formed in 2023 as a mission-driven initiative dedicated to equipping students and communities with the knowledge they need to navigate money, markets, and modern economic systems with confidence and integrity.
Through the company’s platform, its founder – Lindsey Zerbinos – designs curriculum and teaches courses that emphasize real-world money skills, ethical decision-making, and long-term financial resilience. Their work is grounded in the belief that understanding money is essential to personal freedom – especially in a world increasingly shaped by automation, AI, and complex financial systems.
The innovative curriculum includes real math using local data including Denver rents, Colorado wages, and actual insurance premiums. Students complete a Shark Tank-style entrepreneurship project using AI as a tool, not a cheat code. Further lessons cover regressive systems: the lottery, McDonald’s Monopoly, predatory incentives, and behavioral economics. Students are guided to explore ethical AI practices and how technology reshapes opportunity. The program emphasizes systems thinking over memorization – showing how decisions are influenced by industry incentives.
