My passion for financial literacy was triggered by the increasing need of Americans to manage their finances as well as see to their successful and comfortable retirement needs. Lack of understanding of simple concepts and their application – such as budgeting – can have devastating effects on one’s finances therefore financial education is of primary importance to one’s life.
Bio
Dr. Pologeorgis has a long career in higher education with expertise in Financial Services, Personal Finance and Financial Planning. As a sought after consultant and presenter in these sectors, his professional interests include the development of viable educational programs in Personal Finance and Financial Planning. Dr. Pologeorgis is published and annually presents at national conferences on a variety of topics such as Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, Education, Employability and Globalization.
Over the last 22 years, Dr. Pologeorgis has served higher education at various Colleges and Universities in both traditional and online settings, developing courses at all educational levels, and teaching from simple to complicated subjects and topics regarding Financial Services and Personal Finance education. He is currently the Financial Planning Program Director at a Higher Education institution in the Washington D.C. area, teaching, mentoring students and arranging for paid internships in the areas of Business, Finance and Financial Planning. He also provides educational workshops in Organizational Assessment, Personal Finance and Personal Financial Planning. Being a longtime educator and administrator, Dr. Pologeorgis places a high value on education and supports the concept of lifelong learning. His philosophy of education is one that is inclusive and promotes access and equity. This vision focuses attention on academic quality, the learning needs and styles of the student, and the enduring impact of higher education in communities and global society.
Dr. Pologeorgis’ approach strengthens an academic institution’s capacity while apprehends, anticipates and heightens positive potential. Dr. Pologeorgis holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Urban Leadership and Policy Studies in Education (Education Administration), an MBA in Finance, a Graduate Level Certificate in Accounting, and a B.A. in Business Administration, Economics, French Literature and Accounting.
