I am Karen E. Burks, Certified Financial Education Instructor. Some would say I personify “Fashion & Finance” or your “Favorite Fancy Financier.” With many financial titles my passion simply is helping individuals through teaching economic empowerment, personal finance, and career and college readiness. According to Benjamin Franklin, “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” This aligns with my passion and life mantra. The mission of Burks Management Firm, is improving individuals livelihood through financial education and professional development.
Bio
Karen E. Burks, started her career in the financial institution industry serving over ten years in that capacity. Karen is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Burks Management Firm LLC, where she aids her clients with tools to successfully meet their financial recovery through financial education and professional development training. Burks Management Firm was named the 2018 recipient of New Orleans City Business Money Makers. Also, Karen serves as volunteer Business Mentor and Co-Chair with SCORE New Orleans, where she assist small business owners in the areas of business operations, financial management, budgets, business plans, and business development. Academically, Karen has matriculated through her course studies and has an Associate’s of Applied Science in Business Technology from Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; she has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, she has a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California and she has a certification in Personal Finance from Teachers College at Columbia University, in New York, NY. Karen maintains membership in several social, civic, and religious organizations in her community. Karen is the Vice Chairlady of Junior Achievement Young Professionals Board 2018-2019. Karen is a member of Young Leadership Council, Urban League of Louisiana Young Professionals, and National Black MBA.
