Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to helping people improve their financial well-being. My professional journey – pastor, disaster relief worker, housing case manager, nonprofit founder, and financial wellness consultant – has given me a wide-ranging perspective on what people face when finances become overwhelming. But more than my professional background, it has been my personal experiences and my passion for seeing people thrive that have fueled my commitment to financial wellness. I’ve seen up close how financial stress can weigh on a person’s mind, relationships, and future. Supporting individuals as they navigate these challenges has become not just my work, but my purpose.
The need for financial education is real, and I understand it deeply because I’ve lived it myself. Like many people, I have navigated seasons of financial hardship – times when the numbers didn’t quite add up and the weight of uncertainty felt heavy. I remember moments sitting at the table late at night with bills spread out in front of me, the house quiet except for the steady hum of the refrigerator and the tapping of my pencil as I tried to make sense of it all. The feeling in my chest was a mixture of frustration and determination. Those moments taught me humility, discipline, and resilience. They also shaped my empathy for the people I serve today.
I’ve also seen clients go through similar experiences – people with dreams, goals, and talent who simply lacked the financial foundation to move forward. One couple stands out in my memory. They dreamed of buying a home, a place where they could plant roots and raise their family. But a handful of financial missteps from years earlier created barriers they did not know how to overcome. Watching them work so hard yet remain out of reach of their dream left a deep impression on me. I often think, “If I had met them just a little sooner, I could have helped them change their trajectory.” That experience solidified my belief that early, accessible financial education can alter the course of someone’s life.
My personal and professional experiences have shaped the reason I became deeply involved in the financial wellness movement. I want to meet people before they hit crisis points. I want to help them build systems that give them confidence, not fear. I want to give people tools that create possibilities instead of limitations. For me, financial coaching is not about numbers – it’s about empowerment, dignity, and freedom.
Being part of this campaign allows me to reach people with the knowledge, support, and encouragement they need to reshape their financial story. It gives me the chance to help individuals and families in New Jersey and beyond gain the clarity and capability they deserve. Coaching, advocacy, and education are more than my roles – they are my calling. I hope to add value to the lives I touch and to make a meaningful difference in the path forward for those who feel uncertain or overwhelmed. By contributing to this movement, I can help people reclaim their confidence, take next steps, and move toward the lives they desire and deserve.
