Personal Statement
My name is Joshua Bunkley. I’m a Financial Coach, born and raised in Round Rock, TX and now call Athens, GA home. My passion for financial education comes from personal experience.
In my 20s, I lost everything due to bad financial advice. Making $14 an hour, I bought a house with no money down; a car on a five-year, high-interest note with as little down as possible; and borrowed for just about everything that I could. It was all easy to get, and easy to lose. By the age of 25, I lost it all. The stress of the debt induced heart attacks (yes, plural). It took me over five years to climb my way back up and achieve actual financial freedom. I became certified, but my real qualifications lie in my experiences. I know what most people have gone through, and I’ve felt the crushing weight of debt. That’s what drives me to do the work that I do. I believe everyone should have the tools in their toolbelt to become debt-free and build a future for the next generation.
I started coaching with the people closest to me whom I knew were struggling. I was actually able to make a difference, so I kept going. Now Bunkley Financial has helped people pay off cumulative millions, and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon! Being part of the GFEC community campaign gives me a chance to reach more people, like myself, before they end up in a situation like I faced early in life. Through this opportunity, I can help as many people as possible avoid making those money mistakes that get in the way of their dreams.
