Personal Statement
Before earning a Master’s in Applied Economics and the Certified Securities Compliance Professional credential, I was driven by a simple belief: everyone deserves the tools to make smart financial decisions. That conviction has shaped every client meeting and leadership discussion I’ve had, and now motivates me to bring financial wellness programs into Georgia’s schools and communities.
In my early years, I saw how education, steady work, and strong networks could lift my family’s prospects. I remember my mother each morning, tracing Carolina Power & Light stock listings in the newspaper with her fingertip. I recall the soft patter of rain as my parents took me, barely five years old, to open my first bank account in Sumter, South Carolina. Each Sunday, my mother sat at the kitchen table balancing her checkbook while my father, living below his means and volunteering in the community, earned everyone’s respect. Those habits of frugality and foresight laid the groundwork for my own commitment to financial education.
Working on Georgia’s financial wellness campaign allows me to blend professional know‑how with personal passion. I will partner with educators, community leaders, and fellow board members to create practical, research‑driven learning experiences that help people head off money problems before they start. Bringing my experience to the Advisory Board will help me build a legacy of empowering young people to improve their families’ financial well‑being.
