April has been financial literacy month in the U.S. since the early 2000s, and the NFEC chose the last day in April to honor educators with their own financial literacy day to leverage media attention on financial matters. This designation follows on the heels of the federal income tax deadline on April 15, which marks a great time for people to assess their financial capabilities and discover programs to bolster their personal finance skills and improve their overall financial positions.

In 2012, the NFEC launched a comprehensive set of resources available to parents, educators, financial advisors, and professionals. These resources and training programs are available year-round and are designed to improve the financial competencies of youth, families, adults, teens, and educators.

The NFEC is an independent, socially responsible organization dedicated to the promotion of financial wellness around the globe. In collaboration with schools, nonprofits, community groups, and corporations, the NFEC’s objective is to deliver educational materials complimentary to groups interested in promoting financial literacy. Since Congress recognized April financial literacy month in 2003, the NFEC has provided people around the world with opportunities to gain the knowledge and confidence to take effective action to secure their financial futures.

One prime example of a world renowned NFEC program is the Financial EduNation Campaign. This campaign supports people’s financial capability development on a global scale, providing resources and educational materials. These materials are available in a variety of formats including financial literacy games, media packets, workbooks, multimedia presentations, and more.

The objective of all the NFEC financial literacy programs is to help individuals and organizations alike to achieve their personal, family, and global community goals. Toward that end, the NFEC has customized campaigns to improve organizational capabilities and inspire participants to continue learning about money long after financial literacy month is over.
