Personal Finance Expert The Greenwood Project
The mission of The Greenwood Project – a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for which Heidi Albert serves as Director of People & Culture – takes financial inclusion to a new level. This organization was established in 2016 with a mission to create career pathways in the financial services sector for Black and Latino college students. With Albert’s assistance, they achieve their mission by training students in the skills they need to succeed in financial careers; then working with corporate partners to place those young adults in highly-competitive summer internships around the U.S. The Greenwood Project’s current success rate has over 70% of graduates currently working in financial services careers.

Company History
Heidi Albert helps drive The Greenwood Project’s mission by bringing her extensive background in financial services and strategic HR leadership to bear in fostering a high-performing, inclusive company culture. She brings more than 15 years of experience in financial services including with Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, Antares Capital LP, and William Blair Asset Management. From 2014-18 she ran the entrepreneurial organization she founded, Live it to Learn it, Inc., where she developed a financial literacy program for underserved Chicago youth and built strategic partnerships to foster opportunities and financial inclusion for those young people.
Albert holds a JD from New York State University School of Law and a BA with Honors from Trinity University. She is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion with a commitment to community service and education. She has been involved in Link Unlimited, the Asset Management Diversity Accelerator (AMDA) initiative, and the Advisory Board of DePaul’s Females in Finance; and currently serves on the Illinois Financial Educators Council Advisory Board.
The Greenwood Project is a nonprofit organization that envisions a financial industry with no barriers to entry or advancement. Through rigorous training and internships, they achieve their mission of introducing Black and Latino college students to careers in finance.
