Advisory Board Member Aaron Cruz
Wyoming Financial Educators Council

Aaron Cruz was a natural choice to serve on the Wyoming Financial Educators Council (WFEC) Advisory Board due to his long-term commitment to serving communities with financial wellness education and resources; and his unique combination of financial services training and experience. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Colorado in 2009, Cruz embarked on a career in financial education and consultation in his hometown Sheridan, Wyoming. This path has included 14 years as partner in a financial planning practice, founding and leading his own financial literacy business Unbroken to reach the traditionally underserved, and earning credentials as a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®) through the National Financial Educators Council.

The stringent benchmarks applied to select members of this esteemed board include both dedication to the financial wellness cause and a demonstrated background in community service. Advisory Board Member Aaron Cruz fits these criteria in all respects – helping people recover from financial hardship through Unbroken; and offering in-kind financial education through Volunteers of America Northern Rockies. The Wyoming Financial Educators Council foresees a lengthy and productive relationship with Aaron as we pursue our shared goals together.

Turning Uncertainty into Direction with Financial Education: Aaron Cruz

For more than 15 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of financial planning and education – helping individuals and families turn uncertainty into direction. As a Certified Financial Educator, I’m passionate about creating clarity where there’s confusion and structure where there’s stress. My career began with a finance degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and has grown into a mission to empower others with practical, life-changing financial tools. This background allows me to bridge the worlds of financial literacy and professional advising in a shared effort to expand financial wellness nationwide.

In 2018, I founded Unbroken, a financial education company dedicated to serving treatment centers, recovery programs, and individuals rebuilding after hardship. Through workshops and one-on-one coaching, Unbroken helps participants develop sustainable financial habits that lead to long-term stability. This work reflects my belief that financial wellness should be accessible to everyone.

My goal as an NFEC Advisory Board Member is to help expand the reach of high-quality financial literacy programs to people of all socioeconomic backgrounds, with special focus on communities in recovery and transition. I’m deeply motivated by the idea that clarity and education can transform not only financial outcomes but personal confidence and hope.

I’m uniquely positioned to contribute to this mission through both program-level experience and professional expertise. My work bridges technical planning and real-world education, enabling me to translate complex financial concepts into tools people can actually use. I look forward to supporting the NFEC’s vision by helping individuals, organizations, and educators raise the standard of financial wellness in their communities.
