NCFC – the new division of the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC)

The NCFC (National Council of Financial Coaches & Counselors) is the newly-created division of the National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) dedicated solely to professional financial coaching. Designed to serve coaches, counselors, employers, nonprofits, and program leaders, NCFC brings coach-specific training, practice standards, turnkey systems, and measurement tools – so coaching can be delivered with consistent quality and demonstrable client outcomes.

Why NFEC created NCFC

Coaching is a distinct practice with unique ethics, supervision needs, and measurement methods. By launching NCFC as a separate division, the NFEC can concentrate resources and expertise on the particular needs of coaches rather than treating coaching as a subset of general financial education. That structural change enables faster innovation, deeper practitioner support, and clearer governance for coach practice and credentialing.

What NCFC offers

Coach training & certification: Applied, standards-based training and a certification pathway that teach behavior change techniques, client assessment, session design, documentation, and supervision. NCFC certification signals that a coach meets defensible practice benchmarks and is prepared to document client progress.

Turnkey coaching systems: Practical toolkits that enable coaches to start and scale faster: client intake and assessment templates, session agendas, homework and behavior change activities, client tracking dashboards, supervision guides, and funder-ready reporting templates.

Practice standards & ethics: A published code of conduct and core practice standards that define competencies, client protections, confidentiality protocols, and supervisory expectations for professional coaches and counselors.

Launch-to-impact support: Program design, coach matching, pilot planning, supervision structures, and measurement frameworks that help organizations integrate coaching into education, workplace, and social service programs with fidelity.

Four pillars that define NCFC

  • Independent: Coaching resources are education-focused and free from commercial bias or product sponsorship.
  • Accredited: Training and credentialing follow recognized continuing education practices to support professional development.
  • Standards-driven: NCFC publishes clear practice standards so organizations and clients know what to expect.
  • Outcomes-focused: Emphasis on defensible measurement and funder-ready reporting so coaching demonstrates real client progress.

Who benefits from NCFC

NCFC supports a wide range of practitioners and organizations, including:

  • Individual financial coaches and counselors
  • Nonprofit teams adding coaching to client services
  • Employers and HR teams launching workplace coaching
  • Program managers and educators integrating coaching pathways
  • Funders and partners seeking measurable client outcomes

Measurable client outcomes

NCFC equips coaches to set client goals, collect baseline and follow-up data, and report on outcomes such as increased emergency savings, improved budgeting habits, reduced debt, and achievement of client-defined financial milestones. The emphasis on measurement helps coaches demonstrate impact and strengthens funding and partnership opportunities.

How to engage with NCFC

Coaches and organizations can engage with NCFC to access certification, turnkey systems, standards, and launch support. Because NCFC operates as a focused division of the NFEC, practitioners get coach-first services and clearer pathways to professional practice and program sustainability.
