Customized Video & Audio Campaign Promotional Media
The NFEC provides your campaign with a strong suite of multimedia resources. One of these assets is a personalized video using your appearance and audio skillfully mixed within high quality stock videos.
Providing video and audio recordings to embed on your webpages is optional, but highly recommended. You can submit the recordings at any point during the campaign, but we do recommend the sooner rather than later.

Tips for Filming
Recording Equipment
We can suggest three options. Although a higher quality camcorder is suggested, newer phones and webcams can offer good quality.
Videos should be shot in landscape mode. With a phone, this would mean holding it horizontally.
Suggested – Camcorder

Camera: Full HD (1920 x 1080 or “1080p”) resolution recording. We use a Canon XA11 Compact Full HD Camcorder (approximately $1,000).
Microphone: Omnidirectional lavalier lapel microphone that plugs in to the camera.
Alternative – Webcam Recording

Webcam: A few affordable options: Logitech C920x HD Pro Webcam, Full HD 1080p/30fps (approximately $60), or a Logitech Brio 4K Webcam, Ultra 4K HD Video Calling (approximately $150).
Microphone: Omnidirectional lavalier microphone with USB output for computers.
Alternative – Phone Recording

Phone: Samsung Galaxy, iPhone, Google Pixel or other phone with high quality video.
Microphone: Omnidirectional lavalier lapel microphone with a cable and adapter for phone input.
Background
Clean & professional. This can be a backdrop made for photography or videography ($50 and up) or a clean and organized office or conference room.
Lighting is important. Ensure there are no major shadows on your face, body, or on the background. Often shadows appear below the neck and nose, as many settings have lighting from above. To fix this, using lighting that aims upward towards your neck, with one light on each side aimed toward, works well. Shadows appearing on your background can be eliminated by an additional light aimed where they appear (as shown approximately in the lighting diagram to the right). Desktop LED video lights or a ring light can help reduce any shadows ($30 and up).

Ensure there isn’t background (audio) noise and avoid locations that produce echo. To reduce echo – place pillows, blankets, curtains, couch cushions or similar cloth-based items on surfaces. There are also fairly inexpensive acoustic foam panels that you can purchase online and add to walls or any other surface.
Recording Tips
Shoot landscape. Most camcorders will default to landscape. For phones and webcams, make sure you position them so the resulting image is horizontal.
Shoot so the bottom of the frame is just above your waist and leaves some space above your head.
The camera should be positioned slightly above eye level.
Look into the camera as if you are speaking with a person.
Dress
Business professional or business casual in style.
Guidelines
Please do not talk about politics or any other divisive issues – this video is to engender wide support for a cause that brings people together.
If you are part of an organization or larger business, check to see if there is a compliance department or officer that can give you clarity on what you can and cannot talk about.
Audio & Video Format Guidelines
Ideally your video will be in .mp4 format or in another common format that we can edit if necessary. Here are additional variables, assuming your recording device allows you to adjust for them:
Audio Quality
Between 192 to 320 kbps (kilobits per second).
Video Resolution
1920 x 1080, also known as 1080p is ideal.
Video Frames Per Second
23.976 to 30 constant frames per second (fps).
Video Quality
A bitrate of 4-6 Mbps (4000 to 6000 kpbs).
Inexpensive Cell phones and webcams will not likely have these settings, while sophisticated camcorders and newer DSLR cameras may shoot at higher resolutions. If all of this sounds like a foreign language, you can record your video and we can make suggestions if there are quality challenges.
Delivery
Send us your best takes for each question – you have 2 options:
1) Use video editing software to select the specific answers you want used prior to upload one or more clips.
OR
2) Send us an unedited video clip with exact times of the answers you wish us to use. Please provide start and end times – minutes & seconds, in the Additional Information form field below. Example: Answer 2 from 9:10 to 11:17
NFEC Delivery Process
Once you deliver your video clips, we will edit them into the final video format you selected. These will be delivered to you in about 3 to 4 weeks and promoted via NFEC channels.
