Texas Financial Educators Council
Texas, Advisory Board Member Paul Goebel brings a wealth of financial education experience in content, instruction, and sustainability to his role on the Texas Financial Educators Council’s board. Since launching the Center at UNT in 2005, Paul and his team have reached nearly 167,000 students with financial education instruction and special events; and more than 11,000 students with personalized financial coaching through the Center. In addition, more than 200 universities and community colleges rely on Paul for his expertise, resulting in the establishment of financial education programming at higher education institutions across the country.
Paul Goebel was the 2023 recipient of the National Financial Educators Council’s prestigious Financial Education Instructor of the Year Award. He also shares his substantial expertise at seminars, webinars, and conferences in Texas and across the whole nation.

Raising Awareness to Create Holistic, Sustainable Financial Education Programming: Paul Goebel
Goebel gives raising awareness about financial wellness top priority. He continually explores opportunities to find unique, relevant, and engaging ways to reach the ever-changing composition of UNT’s growing student body. Paul forms collaborative partnerships across university departments and offices to facilitate outreach and ensure holistic learning opportunities for all students campus-wide.
Goebel’s work extends beyond the UNT campus to bring sustainable financial education programming throughout Texas and around the United States. His innovative, adaptable teaching style transforms financial instruction from ideation into implementation – laying a strong foundation for sustainability. For example, Paul was a founding leader of the Texas Association of Collegiate Financial Education Professionals (TACFEP), the first such statewide networking association to be formed in the country.

Selected members of the Texas Financial Educators Council Advisory Board are individuals who support us in our commitment to widely spread financial wellness resources across the state of Texas. They share our goal to donate financial wellness programming at the community level in initiatives that can be sustained and taken to scale.
Board Members who pass the rigorous selection criteria are professionals with a demonstrated commitment to building financial wellness in their communities. Individuals with the following traits are considered:
Enthusiasm
A true sense of enthusiasm and passion for improving financial wellness, promoting the financial literacy cause, and making communities and individuals stronger through financial education and empowerment.
Involvement
Organizations and individuals who have time available to commit toward financial wellness efforts and to participate actively in Board communications.

Individuals selected to the Advisory Board are dedicated to serving their communities and have strong reputations for integrity, ethics, and honesty in their respective professional arenas.
