Somya Munjal heads the NFEC’s College Debt campaign has been tackling the issue of financial literacy since she graduated college. She realized quickly how fortunate she was to graduate with a Bachelors and Graduate degree in Accountancy without any debt due to her work experience and scholarships. After graduation, she was compelled to devote her life to teaching others how to live a life with financial education so that they can go after their dreams. Somya Munjal is now a Certified Financial Accountant and holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. Meka West brings over 10 years’ experience working with non-profits, government and corporate agencies in an accounting and business capacity. With the increasing complexity of the financial markets, many people are falling victim to credit card debt, a lack of savings, and inadequate retirement planning all because they never received training from qualified financial literacy speakers.

According to Walter Updegrave, editor of Money Magazine, less than 2/3’rds of workers have tried to calculate how much they must save and accumulate for a comfortable retirement. In other studies conducted, the National Financial Educators Council concurs with the National Association of State Boards of Education’s research that shows that ‘most workers are not participating sufficiently enough to allow comfortable retirement’.
